It works by gripping the hair shaft and lifting it out of the follicle rather than sticking to the skin surface, which is why it is the standard choice for sensitive and small areas.

      </details>

      <details class="bt-faq__item">

2. Is hard wax the same as hot wax?

Yes — for all practical purposes. Hard wax, hot wax and film wax all describe the strip-free heated wax used for facial, underarm and bikini work; the terms are used interchangeably in salons and in product listings. Film wax usually emphasises that the formula spreads especially thin and remains flexible as it sets.

      </details>

      <details class="bt-faq__item">

3. Hard wax or strip wax — which should a salon stock?

Both, usually. Strip wax (soft wax) remains the fastest option for large areas such as legs and arms. Hard wax is preferred for facial, underarm, bikini and Brazilian work, where it grips shorter and coarser hair and irritates the skin less because nothing sticks to the skin itself. A professional studio typically runs two heaters so the two waxes are always ready.

      </details>

      <details class="bt-faq__item">

4. What is film wax, and why does it matter for a salon?

Film wax is a hard wax formulated to be applied in an unusually thin, elastic film. It matters for two commercial reasons: a thinner application means each kilogram covers more services, and an elastic film comes off in fewer, larger pieces, which shortens the appointment. For high-volume studios both effects show up directly in cost per service and in appointment throughput.

      </details>

      <details class="bt-faq__item">

5. Beads, beans, blocks or pellets — is there a real difference?

The names mostly describe the same product in different shapes: beads, beans and pellets are small free-flowing pieces that melt quickly and can be measured by scoop, while blocks are larger pressed units that melt more slowly. Shape affects melt time and how easily a technician portions a service, not the formulation. Our standard supply is beads, which melt evenly and pour cleanly from a scoop.

      </details>

      <details class="bt-faq__item">

6. Do hard wax beads need a professional heater?

They need a wax heater that holds a stable temperature — that is the requirement, not professional branding. A single-dial warmer with an even pot surface is enough for a small studio; a chip-controlled unit that holds the set temperature tightly and recovers quickly between services is the better choice for a busy salon or for a formula that is sensitive to overheating. Pot capacity matters too: 20–180 ml suits facial and mobile work, 400–800 ml suits legs and back-to-back appointments.

      </details>

B · Melting point and temperature

      <details class="bt-faq__item">

7. That is the working range we formulate and test to, covering Formula A1 and Formula A2, and it is the range quoted in our technical documentation and on our product pages.

      </details>

      <details class="bt-faq__item">

8. Why do you quote a range instead of one number?

Because a wax is a blend, not a pure substance, and a blend softens across a range rather than at a single point. Quoting one figure would be convenient for a catalogue and misleading in the treatment room: the same batch behaves a little differently at 45 °C and at 50 °C, and different rooms, seasons and heater types shift where in that band the wax is actually being used. A range is the honest specification.

      </details>

      <details class="bt-faq__item">

9. What should the heater be set to?

Set the heater so the wax in the pot sits inside the working range — typically the middle of the heater’s warming band — and let the full pot come to temperature before the first service. Then hold it there rather than turning the dial up between clients. The most common cause of a badly performing wax is not a wrong formula but a heater that has been pushed above the range to make the wax melt faster.

      </details>

      <details class="bt-faq__item">

10. What happens if the wax is too hot?

Three things go wrong at once. It becomes too fluid and runs, so the film is uneven and thin in places. It is uncomfortable for the client, whose instinct is to move — and movement during removal is what causes lifting rather than clean extraction. And sustained overheating degrades the blend, changing its texture and grip for the rest of the pot. Overheated wax is also the usual explanation for a client describing the wax, rather than the technique, as the problem.

      </details>

      <details class="bt-faq__item">

11. What happens if it is too cool?

Cool wax does not adhere properly: it goes on in thick, uneven patches, sets too rigidly, and then snaps into small fragments instead of peeling cleanly. The technician compensates with a second pass over the same area, which is exactly where skin irritation and ingrown hairs come from. If the wax is not spreading in a thin film, the answer is to let it warm up, not to work harder.

      </details>

      <details class="bt-faq__item">

12. Why does the wax take longer to melt in winter?

A cold room slows the whole cycle — the pot loses heat to the air faster, so the heater works longer to bring the wax to temperature and recovers more slowly between services. In a cold studio, pre-warm the room or the treatment area and allow extra warm-up time at the start of the day and after any long gap between clients. The wax itself does not need a different setting; the environment does.

      </details>

      <details class="bt-faq__item">

13. Do I need a thermometer, or is the dial enough?

A dial is enough once you know what the right setting looks and feels like on your own heater with your own wax — most experienced technicians work that way. A thermometer or an infrared probe is worth having for one purpose: calibrating a new heater, checking that a unit has drifted, or when a salon runs several stations and needs them to behave identically. A digital-display heater with a temperature readout removes the guesswork entirely.

      </details>

      <details class="bt-faq__item">

14. Should the wax cool before it is removed?

Yes — the wax must firm up before removal. It should still flex slightly rather than shatter, which is the sign it is in the right window. Remove too early and it smears and grips poorly; remove too late and it cracks into fragments. The practical test is to touch the edge: if it has lost its tack and lifts as one piece, it is ready.

      </details>

C · Formulas A1 and A2

      <details class="bt-faq__item">

15. Rosin is a known sensitiser: some clients develop a reaction after repeated exposure, and technicians who work with it daily are exposed continuously.

      </details>

      <details class="bt-faq__item">

16. Clients with reactive or sensitive skin often tolerate rosin-free wax better, and a studio that advertises a rosin-free option removes a question that a growing share of clients now ask before booking. Which wax works best on coarse or stubborn hair?

A high-grip formula. Coarse and dense hair needs a wax with enough elastic strength to encase the shaft and hold it as it is lifted; Formula A2 is our recommended choice here. Applied in the direction of growth and removed against it, it lifts coarse hair in fewer passes, which is kinder to the skin and faster on the clock.

      </details>

      <details class="bt-faq__item">

23. Which wax should be used on facial and bikini areas?

Hard wax rather than strip wax, because these areas are sensitive and the wax needs to grip the hair without adhering to the skin. Formula A1 is the usual selection for facial and bikini work — it is rosin-free, works at the 45–50 °C range and comes away in a single piece, which keeps the area from being worked twice.

      </details>

      <details class="bt-faq__item">

24. Which wax suits sensitive or reactive skin?

Rosin-free hard wax, applied in a thin film at the lower end of its working range. Formula A1 is formulated for this: without rosin the formula removes the most common sensitiser in depilatory wax, and a thin film removes in one pass rather than several. A patch test 24 hours before a first full treatment remains the professional standard regardless of formula.

      </details>

      <details class="bt-faq__item">

25. Does the climate where I sell change which wax I should stock?

It changes both the formula and the logistics. In hot, humid markets the treatment room is warmer, so wax reaches its working window faster and the film can go tacky sooner; technicians adapt with slightly lower heater settings and smaller working sections. In very hot shipping conditions, storage and transit become the main concern — see questions 39 and 40. For humid tropical markets, the cream-white high-grip formula is the usual recommendation because it holds its texture well in warm rooms.

      </details>

      <details class="bt-faq__item">

26. Is hard wax suitable for legs and underarms?

Underarms, yes — hard wax is well suited there, since the skin is thin and the area is small. Legs are usually faster with strip wax because of the surface area, though hard wax is preferred for shorter regrowth between full leg treatments. A studio running both grows naturally: strip wax for large areas, hard wax for the sensitive and small ones.

      </details>

      <details class="bt-faq__item">

27. Can hard wax be used on men’s chest and back?

Yes, and it is increasingly common. Male body hair tends to be coarser and denser, so a high-grip formula such as A2 is the better fit, applied in sections and removed in the direction that follows the hair growth pattern of each area. Because the sections are larger, use a bigger pot — 400 ml and above — so the wax supply does not run out mid-service.

      </details>

      <details class="bt-faq__item">

28. How long should the hair be before waxing?

Around 5–10 mm, which usually means one to three weeks of regrowth after shaving. Shorter than that and the wax cannot grip the shaft; longer than that and the hair tends to break above the follicle rather than come out whole, which shortens the result and increases the chance of ingrown hairs. Hard wax generally handles slightly shorter regrowth than strip wax, which is one reason clients who shave between appointments often prefer it.

      </details>

E · Usage and yield in the salon

      <details class="bt-faq__item">

29. How much wax does one service use?

It depends far more on technique than on the formula: a thin, even film uses a fraction of what a thick application does for the same result. As a working guide, facial and underarm services use very little — a few grams each — while a Brazilian or a full back uses substantially more. The practical way to establish your own number is to weigh the pot before and after a full day of services; that figure, not a catalogue estimate, is what your cost per service should be built on.

      </details>

      <details class="bt-faq__item">

30. Wax that has been applied to a client must be treated as used — anything with skin contact is single-use for hygiene reasons, and re-melting does not make it safe. Follow your local hygiene regulations on this point, as they vary by market.

      </details>

      <details class="bt-faq__item">

31. For a studio that runs several colours, the simplest answer is a pot per formula rather than cleaning between clients.

      </details>

      <details class="bt-faq__item">

32. Because a thin film is faster, more comfortable and cheaper per service, improving technique has a measurable effect on how far a bag goes. Distributors quoting a bag count per studio should base it on services rather than on weeks, since appointment volume varies far more than technique does.

      </details>

      <details class="bt-faq__item">

33. Why does my wax snap into pieces instead of peeling cleanly?

Almost always a temperature problem rather than a formula problem. Wax that has been left too long, or applied too thickly, sets rigid and shatters instead of flexing. Check three things in order: the wax went on in a thin film, it was removed while still slightly flexible, and the heater is holding temperature instead of cycling down between clients. If all three are correct and it still snaps, the room is cold and the wax is setting too fast.

      </details>

F · Private label and ordering

      <details class="bt-faq__item">

34. In practice this is managed in transit rather than fought: plan shipments to hot markets to avoid long dwell times in the open, use a route that keeps the container moving, and store on arrival in a shaded, ventilated area rather than on a loading dock. If the wax does arrive warm, let it return to room temperature and check the texture before it is put on the shelf.
