Inside the Bead: The A2 Consumer-Grade Formula, Ingredient by Ingredient
Nine core ingredients, eight colorants and one honest explanation of why rosin still powers the world’s best-selling at-home waxes. Photographed on our own studio bench.
One A2 base, multiple cosmetic-grade shades — from the studio where it is blended.
Why rosin still runs the consumer segment
Walk down any beauty aisle and most hard wax bags share a common ancestor: rosin, the natural pine resin that makes peel-off hair removal work. In A2 it sits at 15–50% — high enough to grip fine hair at low temperatures, low enough to keep the formula affordable at retail price points.
Rosin has a deserved reputation for sensitising a minority of users, which is exactly why we publish what we do about it: A2 pairs natural rosin with hydrogenated rosin and glyceryl hydrogenated rosinate (5–20% each) — modified forms that are lighter in colour, more stable and gentler than raw resin. And for rosin-sensitive customers, our rosin-free Formula A1 is the deliberate alternative.
The nine ingredients and their jobs
- Rosin (15–50%) — the grip. Thickens the melt and bonds to hair, not skin.
- Glyceryl hydrogenated rosinate (5–20%) — film integrity; the strip peels whole instead of flaking.
- Hydrogenated rosin (5–20%) — colour-stable, low-odour film support.
- Ethylene/VA copolymer (5–18%) — elasticity around knees, ankles and wrists.
- Cera alba / beeswax (2–10%) — natural conditioning texture.
- Paraffin (10–30%) — fast, even melt in small home heaters.
- Mineral oil (1–6%) — the slip that softens the pull on removal.
- CI 77499 (1–2%) — cosmetic iron oxide colorant.
- Parfum (0.1–0.5%) — a restrained scent level, inside IFRA guidance.
The full table with ranges is published on the A2 product page — including the eight-stock colorant palette (Food Blue 5, Pigment Violet 23, Red 101, Green 17, Natural Red 4, White 6, Black 11, Red 48). Because every shade runs on the same base, brands can launch seasonal colours without reformulation or retesting the core formula.
Engineered for the at-home user
Consumer wax lives or dies on two moments: the first melt and the first strip. A2’s paraffin-forward melt curve warms quickly in compact heaters, and the EVAc elasticity keeps the set film flexible where beginners apply it thickest. That is also why we pair A2 with our PW8 mini wax warmer in retail kits — a 180 ml pot that hits working temperature in minutes and holds it without overheating the wax.
Where it’s made
The photographs in this article are our studio, not a stock library. Every batch formula is melted, pulled and peel-tested on our own heaters before it is approved for a customer’s label. It is the same bench where private-label samples are poured and filmed for your listing pages.
Your label on it
A2 ships as neutral beads in unlabeled transparent bags (zero printing lead time) or fully printed private-label packaging against your artwork. Standard starting point: one bag, one heater, one insert card — a complete shelf-ready kit. Tell us your market and channel and we will quote in one pass.
